LITEON’s $919 Million McKinney Manufacturing Campus Moves Into Buildout |
After a September groundbreaking, work is underway to convert existing Core5 buildings into a manufacturing campus expected to support at least 600 jobs over time. |

McKinney’s $919 million LITEON manufacturing project has moved beyond its July announcement. In September, the Taiwan-based technology company and local leaders marked the start of work to turn two existing industrial buildings in north McKinney into a North American advanced manufacturing campus. For residents, that means a major employer is taking a visible step toward opening, although its jobs and full investment remain future targets.
What is happening at the campus?
LITEON has purchased more than 650,000 square feet of existing space at Core5 Logistics Center in north McKinney. The work involves interior buildout and specialized equipment installation, not construction of an entirely new industrial complex on empty land. The company says the campus will support advanced electronics manufacturing, engineering, research and related operations.
At a ceremonial groundbreaking on September 3, 2026, LITEON executives joined city and McKinney Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) leaders to mark the start of the next phase. The ceremony was a milestone, not an announcement that the facility had started full production.
What about the jobs?
The project is expected to bring at least 600 permanent jobs over the coming years. State officials described an initial phase of $307 million and 500 jobs, with total investment expected to reach $919 million over the life of the project. The work is expected to include manufacturing, engineering and corporate roles. These figures are commitments and projections, not a count of current job openings.
LITEON has said hiring will begin in phases as improvements are completed. No complete current hiring schedule or verified opening date was established in the sources reviewed for this update. Residents interested in opportunities should watch for official company announcements rather than assume all 600 positions are available now.
Why McKinney residents may care
A large manufacturing operation could expand local career options and strengthen McKinney’s business base. But the value to residents will depend on how the company follows through: how many jobs open, what qualifications they require, and how the facility fits into a growing city. Those outcomes deserve follow-up reporting rather than assumptions.
The location also matters. Instead of clearing an undeveloped site for a new manufacturing park, LITEON is adapting two existing industrial buildings. MEDC says the project must still meet the applicable permitting, inspection, safety and environmental requirements.
What comes next?
The most useful milestones to watch are the progress of the facility conversion, the company’s hiring announcements and the transition to operating production lines. The July announcement established the size of the planned investment. The September groundbreaking showed the campus moving into its buildout stage. Neither milestone alone establishes that every job or dollar of investment has been delivered.
