Whole Foods Set to Open in McKinney's West Grove This Fall

McKinney residents, the wait is nearly over—Whole Foods Market is set to open its doors at 8701 West University Drive just before fall begins on September 22.

The store will occupy a 45,000-square-foot space within the West Grove development, located near the intersection of Custer Road and West University Drive.

Known for its extensive selection of natural, organic, vegan, keto-friendly, and gluten-free products, the Austin-based grocery chain has expanded to over 500 locations nationwide. The McKinney store will bring these offerings closer to Collin County shoppers.

A Growing West Grove Community

Whole Foods at 8701 W. University Drive, Ste. 300, will serve as the anchor tenant for West Grove, a 52-acre master-planned community developed by De La Vega Development. The company announced the grocery store's arrival back in March 2022 as part of the broader vision for West Grove.

In addition to shopping, the community is expanding its residential options. Construction is underway on Atheria at West Grove, a luxury apartment and townhome community designed to house nearly 400 residents. Atheria, developed by Milhaus and FrontRange Capital Partners, is located within West Grove.

“McKinney is, arguably, one of the best markets in North Texas, and Atheria at West Grove’s thoughtful approach to high-end suburban living, integrated within a vibrant mixed-use community, is anticipated to attract individuals and families alike,” said Ben Mantor, development associate at Milhaus.

The 389-unit project will blend luxury townhomes and apartment flats, offering a mix of floorplans with upscale finishes. Townhomes will include two-car garages, two bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths, farmhouse-style kitchen sinks, wine refrigerators, front porches, and covered balconies. Apartments will come in one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts with covered patios and “tuck under” garages for each building.

As the community continues to grow, residents can look forward to a variety of new dining and retail options, enhancing the vibrant atmosphere of West Grove.
